Level Green Classroom Receives Sensory Learning Materials

Mrs. Wise’s special education classroom at Level Green Elementary School (Penn-Trafford School District) received an assortment of new materials to meet the sensory needs of her students through a grant from DonorsChoose.

The materials included wooden puzzles, a pots and pans playset, pop beads, a weighted puppy lap pad, paints and brushes, and several other helpful items.

“My nonverbal students rely on sensory items to calm themselves and ready themselves to learn,” commented Wise.  “They use ‘toys’ to learn activities of daily life, as well as to learn basic information like colors and shapes.”

Districtwide, DonorsChoose has brought nearly $160,000 into Penn-Trafford classrooms.
