Students Teaching Students

At Level Green Elementary School, reading teacher Mrs. Feathers merged her fifth-grade and third-grade classes for a unique lesson.

The fifth-graders showed mastery of their grammar skills by becoming ‘teachers of the day’ for the third-graders. Students were paired up, with the older students providing instruction to the younger students on sentence types and capitalization rules. The third-graders then did a practice worksheet with the guidance of their new ‘teachers.’  The fifth-graders gave the third-graders feedback and ended the class with a sticker and a high five.
