Students Learn About Chinese New Year Traditions

The first-grade classes of Level Green Elementary School learned about the traditions and culture of Chinese New Year on Friday, January 27.  First-grader Ray Wang, whose parents moved to the United States in the early 2000s,  shared a presentation prepared by his family which contained pictures and information about the various ways they celebrate the holiday. Students dressed in red and gold, learned about the Chinese alphabet, read stories, and enjoyed some other fun activities.  Teacher Mrs. Shogan commented, “At the end of the day Ray told me, ‘Today I felt special.’ Our class was so excited to learn about his traditions!”
