Mrs. Deanna Rocca, a Student Learning Assistant at Level Green Elementary School received a grant from the Penn-Trafford Community Education Foundation which enabled her to purchase chapter books and materials for a project called “Reading Rocks with Mrs. Rocca."
Rocca and her first-grade reading groups just completed a book study on Magic Tree House: Night of the Ninjas. Each student then illustrated a book cover depicting their favorite scene from the book and then shared it with classmates. “It was really fun to see the kids so engaged in reading a chapter book, working cooperatively, and strengthening comprehension skills,” commented Rocca.
