Students in Miss Monzo’s class at Level Green Elementary wrapped up the week with a fun combination of Halloween festivities and hands-on learning.
As part of their Red Ribbon Week celebrations, students dressed up in their costumes and carved a pumpkin together. Along the way, they learned about the different parts of a pumpkin and explored its life cycle.
The learning will continue throughout the school year. After carving their pumpkin, students placed it in a container and they will observe and document its decomposition. This ongoing experiment will help them better understand the life cycle of a pumpkin and how new pumpkins grow.
Their ultimate goal is to grow new pumpkins for students to take home in the spring.
