LEVEL GREEN ELEMENTARY
This fall is a homecoming of sorts for new Level Green Elementary School principal Jeff Swartz as he returns to the building where he launched his Penn-Trafford administrative career in 2007. “I am honored to work at Level Green,” says the veteran educator. “Mr. DiNapoli did a great job here. I am just looking to build on that success to continually improve.”
Mr. Swartz holds a Master’s Degree in Education from the College of William & Mary in Virginia. For the past several years, he has served as principal at Harrison Park Elementary School, and he and his wife, Erin, have resided in the district since 2007 and are raising four children here. His leadership style has always been seen as thoughtful, intelligent, innovative, and student-focused. “I believe in trusting the professionals that I work with and supporting, encouraging, and empowering all staff to do what is best for the students and school community,” says Mr. Swartz.
Mr. Swartz reports that the community has been very welcoming, and he is excited to witness Level Green students’ “love of learning” when they return on August 22. He looks forward to the introduction of the “What I Need” or WIN Time concept being implemented districtwide this year, where 25-30 minutes of every school day is dedicated to focusing on the individual needs of students ranging from intense remediation to accelerated enrichment opportunities.
He spearheaded a similar concept during his tenure at Harrison Park. “We do this in general with our curriculum and instructional practices, but with WIN, we really drill down Level Green Elementary School Update and focus on very specific things with a priority given to reading and math interventions,” explains Mr. Swartz. “We, as building educators, protect this time and ensure that it happens every single day.”
With approximately 270 students enrolled for the 2024-25 school year, Level Green’s class sizes remain very steady. The new curriculum data leader for the school is teacher Barbara Feathers. Level Green educators worked over the summer to refurbish the building’s existing pond area into a centralized learning sanctuary and outdoor classroom space for teachers and students. Mr. Swartz says he is looking forward to getting to know the students and families of Level Green Elementary School throughout the school year and re-familiarizing himself with some of the tried-and true programs and practices.
